Yushchenko birthday February, 23

The provocation action, directed against "Our Ukraine" faction front-runner Viktor Yushchenko, started in Lviv and some other cities of Ukraine on February 20.

On the night of February 21, the streets of Lviv have been covered with posters, the content of which defames Viktor Yushchenko.

According to the press-service of "Our Ukraine", in the words of MP Petro Oliynyk, the posters are good-quality, of A3 format, printed on a glossy paper.

The distribution of the posters is a regular attempt to discredit V.Yushchenko – the leader of the largest faction in the Ukrainian Supreme Rada, P.Oliynyk pointed out. In his words, this proves that the authorities-supporting forces have already started the Presidential race. He said the posters rank on a par with such measures as spread of the false address to electors on behalf of V.Yushchenko, and also meetings against the war in Iraq, at which posters with provocative contents were showed. The Member of Parliament mentioned the anti-war demonstration in Lviv, when several people hoisted a placard against V.Yushchenko, and a UT-1 TV channel correspondent shot namely this group of people.

He turned attention to the fact that, although all the city was pasted with the posters, militia patrols did not detain any people, who were pasting them. P.Oliynyk announced he intends to submit an appeal on the name of the Lviv Oblast Public Prosecutor with a demand to investigate the given incident.
